Poolmania I
American tables

On June 1st 2006 the first ever TTFE Pool Tournament took place. On what was an opportunity for TTFE players to come together and play competitively to obtain bragging rights as the game’s finest player, little did we know what it would become today.  Now called TTFE Poolmania, the tournament continues to thrive with players old and new.

Enter Greg Davies; the cup’s most decorated and successful player, who began his Poolmania journey and notched up his first piece of silverware. He defeated a spirited Dale Thomas in the final, who himself overcame two playoff games to reach the knockout stage.

Poolmania I will also be remembered for the use of hand splint as a rest for Joe Newbury, who was nursing a hand injury at the time. This medical aid however couldn't save him against the impressive Dean McCarthy, who defeated Joe for third place and has not played in a tournament since.


Poolmania II
British tables

Six months after the glory of winning his first Poolmania title, Greg Davies stamped his authority on the game with even greater aplomb in grabbing title number two. Sweeping all the opponents aside by not losing a single match, Greg encountered a brand new foes on his march through the knockout stage. After defeating Karl Manley in the semi final, Greg faced Pat Davies in a thrilling final. Pat also managed to win all his games at the group stage but he succombed to Greg losing 2-1.

This tournament was awash with new players and new talents, some of which will become key figures in the game. In particular the two losing semi finalists, Karl Manley and Jon Pride, proved their potential in looking like future Poolmania champions. Jon took third place after beating Karl 2-0. Pat’s impressive debut remains his only appearance at Poolmania.
